Sorry But Lacrosse Players Have Been Doing The Bench Press Celebration For Years Now
So yesterday the Pittsburgh Steelers were getting plenty of praise for this Le’Veon Bell bench press touchdown celebration. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a great celebration and a great moment in NFL history as this is the first time I’ve seen it done in the league. But while the execution on this one gets an A, the originality factor gets an F. Coley was correct to call them out yesterday for being celly plagiarists…
…however, this was a half truth. Because while the Pittsburgh Steelers stole the celebration from the Texas Longhorns, Texas actually stole the celebration from lacrosse players as teams all across the nation have been doing this for years.
Even the ladies have gotten in on the action.
All I’m saying is that I would like to see credit where credit is due. Giving football players credit for the bench press celebration is like giving me credit for breaking the news that we landed on the moon just because I told you right now. First you take Chris Hogan away from us and then you take our celebrations? Not on my watch, bucko. You cut the shit right now.
